High-Rise in Houston with Louisiana Soul: A Bodron Fruit Renovation

In the heart of Houston, esteemed Dallas interior designer and architect, Bodron Fruit, revitalized a luxurious high-rise condominium. The unit boasted panoramic views, natural light, and endless opportunity to elevate the space. Bodron Fruit was tasked with turning a dedicated art collector’s home into a sophisticated living space that let each of her pieces take center stage.

The homeowner was committed to paying homage to her Louisiana roots and wanted to recreate the ambiance of her previous home near Bayou DeSiard. She requested that the Dallas interior designer, Mil Bodron, incorporate as many furnishings from her previous home as possible. Bodron was up for the challenge, measuring, photographing, and cataloging each piece of furniture to create a plan for the condominium’s design. Focused on balancing form and function, Bodron focused on preserving the condo owner’s cherished childhood items while incorporating new, modern elements into the space.

The Dallas interior designer made updates to the entry space, kitchen, master bathroom, bedroom, and closets. In the entrance, new lighting was added, creating a more inviting ambiance. Fresh paint was also applied to brighten the space. In the kitchen, the luxury interior designer focused on refining the existing layout, rather than gutting the space. He also added modern finishes to make the space feel more current and cohesive.

The master bath was reworked to improve both functionality and aesthetic, while the bedroom updates included adding some of the nostalgic furniture pieces the homeowner wanted to keep. The closets, however, were completely customized and reconfigured to improve how the space would be used. In the dining room, the Dallas interior designer added a textured glass sliding door to close off the space, creating an intimate area for sharing meals without sacrificing light.

Throughout the entire apartment, the lighting received a complete overhaul, with new fixtures and placements chosen to highlight the art pieces, improve ambiance, and create a sense of warmth. The luxury interior designer also chose new paint to freshen the space while maintaining a timeless look.

Bodron Fruit is also a renowned architect in Dallas, so Svend Fruit was called in to make thoughtful updates to the space’s architecture. The condominium originally included classical panelized columns, which were left to preserve the space’s elegant charm. By slightly shifting the home’s layout, enhancing symmetry, and framing views, Fruit refined the space without losing sight of its classical framework.

By honoring the homeowner’s history, incorporating childhood memories, and preserving her cherished items, Bodron Fruit created a gallery-like setting for her expansive art collection. This renovation was much more than a luxurious upgrade—it was a personal reflection of the homeowner’s life. By combining their expertise, the Dallas interior designer and architect took a thoughtful approach to respecting the homeowner’s past, while leaving room for the space to serve her for years to come.
