Upscale Penthouse Remodel by an Interior Designer and Architect in Dallas
A long-distance couple decided to move in together in Dallas, TX, into an upscale high-rise penthouse after all of their children had left their respective homes. Looking toward the future together as empty-nesters, they wanted to create a sophisticated home where they could enjoy life without the upkeep of a large house and host guests in a luxurious setting.
They called on Dallas interior designer and architect, Bodron Fruit, for help remodeling their new home. The couple purchased the penthouse condo with outdated features that did not match their style—heavy crown molding, paneling, and more. With a cleaner, more modern design in mind, Mil Bodron, the firm's head principal and designer, knew exactly what to do with it.
As a resident of the condo building himself, Bodron, with his co-head principal and architect Svend Fruit, took this project head-on. They stripped the condo of every feature, leaving behind only concrete floors, ceilings, and support columns. The Dallas interior design and architecture firm started with a blank canvas, then designed a space that reflected the owners’ style and priorities.
As a 2,700-square-foot space, Bodron Fruit had plenty of space to work with. The couple’s only request was space for a record collection, books, and a few pieces of bedroom furniture. The Dallas interior designer and architect included a library/music room in the living area. This gave the couple a dedicated space for some of their beloved hobbies—listening to records, reading, and watching movies.
By separating the library/music room and living area, they created distinct spaces for specific activities. However, they maintained an open concept layout and visual consistency to promote natural flow and a sense of connection throughout the home.
In the kitchen area, the Dallas architect and interior designer incorporated a bar made from Pietra Viva stone. They brought this same material into the living room, adding it to the fireplace to further enhance visual consistency throughout the space. Because the Pietra Viva stone bar was such a show-stopping addition, they kept the rest of the kitchen sleek and muted with glossy white cabinetry and modern chrome finishes. The team even tucked the kitchen’s less visually appealing appliances behind a wall, so that they were not visible from the living room. This allowed the couple to entertain without utilitarian pieces disrupting the view.
The dining room, another entertainment space, included a warm and neutral palette. The Dallas interior designer and architect made this decision to draw attention to the surrounding views rather than the interior itself.
By prioritizing how the couple will use the space—for entertaining, indulging in hobbies, soaking in the views, and enjoying each other’s company—Bodron Fruit, an esteemed interior designer and architect in Dallas, created a chic, upscale home for the couple to live out their empty-nester years. Thanks to the interior design and architecture firm, the couple can enjoy their new lifestyle together in a setting that feels both refined and deeply personal.
